The band, holding many shapes and forms, evolved originally from experimental Americana music to a certain cinematic form of rock music. The authentic journey down the lyrical pathways that the band explores is guided patiently and with utmost care by the musicians involved. At times introverted and often tense, the music is the direct result of a reflection of the band's experience.

An amalgamation of indie rock and 80's synth pop with excellent songwriting rooted in the classics of 60/70's pop. Somewhere between The Clash, Of Montreal and Elvis Costello. Time Out NY says: "The Bloodsugars will raise yours, in a good way, with their sweet, bouncy synth-pop."
The Bloodsugars play sweet garage synth-pop, refreshingly unconnected to bands of the 80's in it's simplicity. - The Village Voice

PORTER BLOCK

Peter Block and Caleb Sherman grew up just blocks apart in New York City, but never met each other until their musical worlds collided. Together they created Porter Block, an alternative pop group that shows both Block and Sherman's sharpened expertise acquired through their knowledge, skill and memorable collaborations.
Block, whose mother was a Chamber music graduate in piano, started contributing musical shorts for advertisements and films and eventually formed his first band Tripasaurus in 2003. Recently, he collaborated with ADM from the Lordz of Brooklyn, and Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips from Galaxie 500 and Luna.
Sherman, on the other hand, made his band's first record with legendary producer Bernard Edwards. He then went on to lend his production talents to artists in Nashville to New York, which is where the Porter Block finally erupted.
In 2005, Block teamed up with Sherman to create a powerhouse songwriting and production duo. With tightly woven 3 minute songs, Porter Block brings imagination to the mundane with kitchen sink vignettes and hook laden pop tunes.
Many have compared the band to everything from Fountains' of Wayne to Josh Rouse, but the band found their influences in late Beatles and XTC recordings.
The band was recently asked to take part in an indie-rock compilation "Guilt By Association" alongside Devendra Bernhart, Jim O'Rourke, Superchunk, among others. Their debut album was released January 2007 on Engine Room Recordings. Their new EP Solitary Hotel will be released digitally Fall of 2007.
